Another one of those “obvious-but-no-one-does-it” things. I make a point to always go places I need to go when no one else goes to those places.
Need to go to the bank? Make sure you don’t go between 11am and 1pm (that’s the lunch hour when many people go) or after 4pm (when people get off work and lines form). And never go after noon on a Friday (when everyone’s depositing paychecks).
Need to go to the DMV to get your driver’s license renewed? Go there first thing in the morning, but not on a Monday.
Post office? Same as a bank.
Grocery shopping? Just about any time before 3pm on Mondays through Fridays. Avoid in the evening and on weekends.
I’m a movie buff and go to the movies almost every week. I rarely see movies on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays. That’s when everyone else goes. When I’m watching my explosion-filled gunfighting action movies, I like the audience to keep quiet. The less people there, the more quiet they are. As an added bonus, many movie theaters offer discounts for mid-week shows.
This is such simple stuff, I don’t know why other people don’t do it and then complain about lines and crowds. Of course if you work an 8-5 Monday-Friday job, then you have an excuse. But if you don’t, be smart and think things through before you run your errands.
